Nearly every night the major news networks carry stories of the heroin epidemic in our communities. Heroin use is on the rise among teenagers in our towns. There is very little parent and child education in the schools, homes, or even in doctors’ offices. The epidemic is growing at an alarming rate! We are called to love one another and be salt and light in our communities. With your help, New Sound Concerts (Sponsors of the Annual SoulFest) and the Newsboys will address the heroin drug epidemic head on and provide this concert event where you can bring your youth and their friends to hear a clear message that TRUE LOVE WINS OVER HEROIN.
What makes the heroin drug crisis an extreme challenge is that it is so readily available in your community for $5 to $10 a bag and most of us find it hard to believe unless we’ve lost a child. Much of the struggle remains hidden, a secret behind the close doors of our neighborhoods and seldom do the parents of struggling teens reach out to their communities, their church leaders and ask for help, until it’s too late.
