Mr. Leeland Goes to Washington

Leeland recently made a trip to Washington DC to speak "on the grounds of the White House".  They were part of panel who were there to represent how young people can come up with practical solutions for old problems.  Watch the video to see how their day went!

Silent Night - Leigh Nash & Dan Haseltine

If this video doesn't set the mood for this Christmas season... well... trust me on this one... it will.  Sixpence None the Richer, comprised of guitarist and songwriter Matt Slocum and vocalist Leigh Nash have recently reunited and released "The Dawn of Grace".  This is their first full Christmas album and it consists of 10 great tracks, some old and some new.  There are a few colaborations with other musicians in this collection of Christmas music, but perhaps none more recognizable than Dan Haseltine of Jars of Clay in the classic song, "Silent Night".  Don't be surprised if Dan joins Leigh at the microphone when the Love Comes Down Tour stops in Plymouth, MA and Lewiston, ME.  Check out this very cool/inspiring video for "Silent Night"!

"I Saw What I Saw" by Sara Groves

Many of us have been on mission trips or week long cross cultural excursions.  We've all see things during these trips that will forever impact the way we see the world.  For me, it was a trip to Guatemala in 2003.  Spending just one week in the small town of Jutiapa has burned an image in my mind of how blessed we are... and how much work there is to do in this world.

Sara Groves had a similar experience during a recent trip to Rwanda.  Those moments have helped her craft a beautiful song called, "I Saw What I Saw".  This video is a 'must see'!

Charlie Lowell on Twitter

Have you ever wondered what Charlie Lowell of Jars of Clay is doing throughout the day?  If so (or even if you never considered it until now) you are in luck.  Charlie frequently Twitters.  (http://twitter.com/cdlowell)

(Ok... nerd alert! ) If you've never heard of Twitter it is a form of blogging that contains 140 charaters or less and often answers the question, "What are you doing right now?"  Its a nice way to see what your family and friends are up to without the need to respond (though you can).  It's also great because you can link it to Facebook and other services.  For example my twitter site feeds my facebook profile status.

Anyway, back to the point.  Charlie Lowell has been twittering about rehersals for the "Love Came Down" tour getting underway this week.  It sounds like things are coming together nicely as Charlie reported yesterday, "Great day rehearsing today, we are two days away from Love Came Down!"

Third Day Grabs an AMA!

Receiving its third AMA nomination early last month, Atlanta based rock band, Third Day, celebrated its first American Music Award win tonight in the “Favorite Artist in the Contemporary Inspirational” category.

Due to a non-stop touring schedule, band members were unable to attend the awards show which aired on ABC, live from the NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles.

Following a sold-out show last night in Clinton, MS lead singer Mac Powell shared from stage, “What an unbelievable honor to win an award in a category with such great friends. This is our first AMA win and it means so much to us because it’s voted on by fans and we’re certain we have the best fans anyone could ever ask for.  Thank you for this tremendous honor.”

Stayed tuned to The SoulFest Blog for more information on how you can see Third Day live in concert this spring!  Don't forget about the great deal available by mentioning this blog when your order tickets to see Jars of Clay, Sixpense None the Richer, Leeland and Sarah Groves!
